My mate and I celebrate the anniversary of our first date, every single month. We keep it small and affordable (under $10), which also helps to keep it creative. It has helped him to get over his anxiety about picking out the 'perfect' gift since he gets to practice every month. It's also helped me to learn to appreciate the thoughtfulness and effort that goes into every gift he dreams up.

For Valentine's Day I bought window cling-ons that had a romantic theme. I knew where his car was parked that day so I put them on his windows. (You may need a key to get in.)

On Valentine's day I wrote a message to my boyfriend with candy hearts. I glued them inside a heart-shaped box formerly used to hold chocolates. He absolutely LOVED it, and was showing it off to everyone

My husband and I have been married 16 years. So on our 16th year anniversary, I rented a jacuzzi room at a hotel and gave my husband 16 cards to open over the course of the weekend. I gave him the final card and gift when we arrived home. The 16 cards (made on my computer) were numbered 1-16 and depicted memories from each of our previous anniversaries. It was pretty exciting and fun to do, just be sure to start preparing the cards well in advance.

Happy I Love You day. Pick one day a month (doesn't have to be the same day each month) and do something special or go out and buy a romantic gift for your love. Give it to them and tell them "Happy I Love You Day".
